God, Honor, Fatherland – the “territorials” received the banner

- For every soldier, the banner is a sacred symbol of dignity and honor, or those qualities that the homeland has the right to demand from its daughters and sons at a time of danger. I am convinced that you will bear the burden of this great obligation. From this place, there is a view of the proud, thousand-year-old, royal Przemyśl, a part of this history was written in the symbolism of the banner by its founders. Each of them, placed in the corners of the banner, has its own deep meaning for this region. There are fundamental words: God, Honor, Homeland. They are also close to me, a son of the Przemyśl land. My life choices were influenced by the attitude of great ancestors, the Eaglets of Przemyśl, the care of the Listening Mother of God from Kalwaria Pacławska, to whom the defenders of the eastern borderlands have been sending their requests for five centuries.

The banner is a symbol of honor, loyalty and service to the homeland. Its granting is a proof of recognition of professionalism, dedication and readiness to defend Poland - both in the country and abroad. For a military unit, the banner is one of the most important symbols of identity, honor and tradition of a given military formation. It has a representative, ceremonial and symbolic function...

On May 5, the President of the Republic of Poland and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Andrzej Duda – at the request of the Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz – awarded the banner to the 20th Przemyśl Territorial Defence Brigade in recognition of its services to the defence of the country and exemplary service to national security. The decision was received by representatives of the Przemyśl unit on May 8, 2019, at the Ministry of National Defence in Warsaw. It was the culmination of a long period associated with processes of a ceremonial, prestigious and legal nature, regulated by military regulations and tradition.

- Congratulations on this great act. From today on, you have a banner that will serve you for eternity. Thank you for choosing such a path, for regularly saying the words of the military oath with full awareness, joining the ranks of the brigade. These words are binding. Remember one thing: you should always count on yourself and your colleagues. Help each other. Always and everywhere. Because if you do this, you will easily achieve your common goal.
